JSA while living with parents

So you are no longer going to help your fiance, like you had been doing previously?
I wouldn't worry about his parents income but I think they will wonder how he has been getting by for the last 6 months, and take your wage into account.
Its not so much that I dont want to help him out (for better or worse & all that!) id happily give him my last penny
lol. But im a post-grad student & finishing up at the minute so after xmas il have no money coming in either, until i get a job (fingers crossed!).
I see your point about how he's been living for 6mths, it will look strange to them, should have just signed on at the time! Ah well... hindsight is a wonderful thing!0 -
I suspect he's fallen foul of this crazy belief (held by JCP staff as well as others) that you can claim only one element of JSA on it's own. You can't, it's one benefit.
Shamefully the very government department responsible for this belief perpetuates the myth.
If this is the case he needs to ask for a revision and provide evidence of his entitlement to JSA
Yes I was under the illusion that they were seperate (altho i knew you couldn't claim both). Does that mean that the job centre would have considered income based when they sent the letter saying he wasn't entitled to any £ ? He said that in the job centre they said it was contributions based he was applying for.... or maybe as you say they are as clueless as me!! lol
thanks though, its all useful info to know.0 -
He can provide his P60's maybe to show he's "paid" his NI? it should show on there? Also he'll just need to complete a JSA3 to apply for Income-based Element of JSA from the date he made his claim.0
