I think i'm infected

Options
Strange happenings on my windows 7 computer.

Some of the things here

flagged message saying windows defender is turned off, when i click to turn it on it takes me to a system 32 folder with hundreds of files on.

tells me that i'm not connected to internet ( red cross on icon ) but actually i'm connected and using internet fine.

When i try to use windows update it tells me it cant because service is not running.
Also when i view installed updates it says no updates installed on this computer even though i know ive installed many.

Tried system restore but says not functioning correctly a volume shadow copy encountered an unexpected error.

I am running a malwarebytes scan atm and it found 8 infections. I'll post scan when finished.

Is there anything else i should be doing?

  • No, one full scan should be fine if the definitions have been updated.
If not, please update definitions and redo a full scan after the scan which is being carried out now.

    debitcardmayhem: speed read?

  • :D I missed that (I was getting distracted as I was reading the post)! Don't worry - you had me very confused until then! I was wondering if speed reading was referring to a function in malwarebytes!
