Hi all,
My (now ex) partner and i have amicably split and i am in the process of trying to moving out (im rapidly being priced out the rental market)There is a possibility that i will have to leave my job for various reasons and i was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to to apply for/recieve benefits while i am living with my ex? I am hoping my employer and I will be able to work something out though.
before anyone starts on me,ive worked my bum off since i was 14 and always paid my tax and NI.
Thanks in advance,
Skint

as paddedjohn said, voluntarily leaving your job and therefore voluntarily making yourself jobless is likely to lead to benefit sanctions which I think can last upto 26 weeks.
That aside, as you've paid N.I. contributions you are likely to be able to claim Contribution based benefits which wouldn't take into consideration your partner's income even if you were still together.
I'm not sure if you have to prove you've split up in order to claim benefits whilst still living with your ex (or if you do have to prove it, how you do so) but there must be a way. Is there a particular benefit you are thinking of?0 -
Are you actually a student nurse, because full time students cannot claim benefits.0
