Ive just done the snowball calculator and my debt free date is September 2012! over the moon at that I was really surprised :-) Its made me determined to do it beforehand though! Theres no accounting for pay rises or new job etc etc so fingers crossed!!!!:D

Just goes to show - working through it doesn't always give unpleasant surprises.

September 2012 isn't bad, it's shorter than some mobile phone contracts...

  • No you're right i was pleasantly surprised! Does make me feel rubbish when I could be in a lovely little place of my own right now, instead i have umpteen pairs of shoes (at last count over 70) more clothes that i can shake a stick it, and had umpteen nights out paid on credit that i cant even remember! :-( still onwards and upwards!

Another WFH day, snow is currently a foot deep and my road is closed officially. I got loads done yesterday so fingers crossed same again today, and also started selling cds on music magpie so thats good. Plan to sort out my ebay stuff this weekend and am debating whether to stick it on before christmas, or leave it till after, although there will be billions of things being ebayed on there afterwards!

MAde a couple of bits of jewellery last night, mainly to get rid of some clutter in my room but i love both bits :-) Need to make Mums Christmas cards today at some point too.

2nd job has been cancelled again today, good for me but again not being paid for it :-( oh well!!
It'll be alright in the end. If its not alright? Then its not the end :D

  • No not long at all! I did think it may take a looooot longer but was pleasantly surprised!! It does mean I may be at home a bit longer than i wanted but I have a roof over my head so cant complain!

Another Wfh day today, so that 3 NSDs and no petrol used woooo!! normally my petrol is around £80 -£100 a month so that may decrease a bit this month! :-)

I am most impressed with myself aswell - Ive been working at home for 4 days and thus had unlimited access to the internet. this would normally mean I would spend a fortune on clothes, music and other stuff that would arrive and then collect dust in a corner. I have spent a grand total of £2.84!!! in 4 days!! for me this is unheard of!! :-) looks like the lbm has truly hit!! :T

I was supposed to be out for a christmas do tonight but I cant get out of my road so that may well be another£20 not spent.....it does mean I have missed a night out with my friends though and I dont get to see these girls that often :-(

  • I am SOOO over the snow!!! i just want to leave the house!!!!

I crumbled a bit today too....I bought electronic salt and pepper mills for £10....however I had budgeted for around £45 for 2 Christmas meals that i am now not going on due to snow so thats still £30 I havent spent that i intended to..... my logic anyway!!

Am pretty pleased that i havent spent loads on the internet since working from home though, i never thought that would happen. Normally the minute i get bored i am straight on ebay fat face white stuff next and a million other sites to "just have a look" and then end up spending and justifying it to myself. so £12. 84 as opposed to £45 is ok to me :-)

Plus i managed to sell stuff on a cd website and made £15 so technically it all evens out!

And i got all my work done that i have been putting off for a month so all is good :-)

well, other than the fact that it is a friday night at 10:30 and i have just finished working!! :rotfl:

  • Hi swinstar

Thought i'd pop in. Hope your enjoyed your snow days. I know being stuck in can be frustrated. Trust me I could have been in jail on Tuesday night if I hadn't of ranted on here ;)

But being back at work for the past three days just makes me wish for a few more snow days next week so that I can chill and work from home. Also knowing that my parents will both be at work next week (they definitely wont get a day off due to snow) means the house would be all mine.

Well done on selling stuff, and making stuff too. Trying to think of a hobby I can do myself, but i'm such a procrastinator.

seems like the snow has had a good impact on your bank balance, and well done on not spending on unnecessary internet purchases. You wouldn't use any of it anyway, and whatever you'd ordered would have just turned out to be shoddy quality when seen in real life.

  • Wow a Crazy Week!!

Used my £2 coins saving pot to pay for my weekend so that was good :-) had a great time too!!

Had a nightmare with a new oven - had to get it on my store account as no money and the other one blew up....delivered weds and fitted thurs.....blew up sat. Earliest they could get an engineer was yesterday who confirmed it was broken (i think the fact it wouldnt turn on gave it away) so that was good of them....phoned back today saying they havent got any in stock and will let us know when they have but they cant guarantee it before christmas! so we have no way of cooking anything at all at home!! we only have a basic microwave!! £600 oven and it blows up and they leave us without anything for weeks!! I am sooooo angry about it, one strongly worded letter of complaint coming up - particularly as we are doing dinner for 14 people on Christmas Day!!!! and its still on my store account and the payment is due!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

    *and breathe*!!

I think it's a great time to do a diary. Why hide all the blood and guts of Christmas!

Good on you though, Interesting read so far!
Wise man once say "When in hole, don't dig"
  • Just got off the phone and they're going to try and get an oven to us by Thursday next week - Im not sure they realise that its Christmas!! it will have been 2 weeks without one - if i'd known that we wouldnt have got rid of the old one at least that one turned on!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! have asked for compensation for the call out charges for the electrician (X3) and fitting costs, i think we should ask for money towards all the take aways and food out that we have had to buy!! 2 weeks without an oven has cost an arm and a leg!!!:mad::mad::mad:

    Anyway......

spending going well so far, have stuck-ish to my budget, and therefore have spending money for holiday (11 days to go!!!) which is nice, then i land and get paid the next day so thats when i start paying off in earnest.....had my year of being single and having fun, now is my year to get my head down pay off debt and move out of my parents.....again!!:o hate being 29 and having to live there but no other option at the moment. Its not too bad though, its more the stigma that gets to me. I'm rarely in as i work full time, and part time in the evenings, and with the gym and socialising i'm not at home other than to sleep! seems a bit of a waste to move out again = i'd be paying all that money out to just sleep in my own place!! ;-)

Got a call (x8!!) from the fraud dept at the bank who had blocked my card......there'd been suspicious activity on it......lots of little payments coming out which is how card cloning starts apparently. HAd to verify my purchases (ebay bits and bobs for christmas and second job and a couple of other bits) and they unblocked it. Was tempted to tell them i'm not too worried about cloning - if anyone thinks they can take money out of my account good luck to them as theres never anything in there anyway!! :D nice to know that they act so quick though and they were really polite and helpful, even at the counter when i went to ask what was going on :-) first time i think i've ever complimented them!!

Got to go and buy lunch today as theres been no point shopping for anything as we cant cook it anyway! so big lunches and toast for dinner - several variations of toast this week though, different toppings, toasted sarnies, we had chips as we have a fryer, but cant cook anything to go with it! had some frozen meals left (am veggie (well pescatorian as i eat some fish still) so eat different meals to everyone else in the house) but other than that have been buying stuff :-(

Right jacket potato here i come.....:rotfl:
