ScotRail a thank you to Sherree!

:j Last Saturday my husband and son braved the weather to travel from Fife to Liverpool by train. Starting at 8.30am and finishing at ll.45pm. The journey back consisted of numerous delays, due to weather, some lucky because their connection would not have been made if the the train they were meant to catch had not also been delayed. Their connection from Edinburgh to Inverkeithing was the last train of the night, leaving Edinburgh at 11.15pm. By the time they were half way through the journey it was clear they would not catch the last train. At this point I tried to find out what would happen when they got to Edinburgh, we live in a village, the roads were not at their best, and I have two rubbish hip joints and hate driving in snow. I tried National Rail Information, where I was told there was nothing they could tell me anything until the train reached Edinburgh, this could have meant leaving home after midnight, whilst hubby and son waited for me to find my way into Edinburgh. After numerous attempts to explain that I wanted to know what would happen in advance, all I could get from the help line was that they couldn't help and they couldn't put me in touch with Edinburgh Station, because they didn't have phone number for the station. I persisted until told the number of Scot Rail Information, bless Sherree, she checked the journey, confirmed that they would not catch the connection and explained exactly what would happen, taxi transport would be laid on to finish the journey. Why National Rail could not have given me the same information is a mystery, but it was great to hear a friendly voice, and someone who could even spare the time to say they hoped that my family would soon be home. At 10.00pm in the evening I knew what to expect and could relax knowing I did not have to wait to find out what would happen next. ScotRail can be proud of that young lady! National rail please take note!
