MSE Help please

Hi
I hve recently downloaded MSE I previously had AVG (free version). I have noticed when I turn my laptop on it is saying computer maybe at risk and the MSE is turned off, When I open MSE it is turned off so I have to manually turn it on or wait a few minuites for it to turn on itself. Shoould this happen the real time protection is turned on so should it not be on all the time? I have uninstalled AVG through add/remove programmes do I need a special tool to do this.
Any help will be much appreciated. :beer:
