They highlighted some poor offers made by postal gold buying companies.
(a) £150 original cheque, new offer of £300. Took 2 months to get gold back and received £1000 on the high street.
(b) £160 original, upped to £280. Took month to get gold back and received £610 in a shop.
(c) other offers less than 10%, 20%. When challenged maybe 50% or 80% but still a shortfall.
High Street jewellers buying gold may give you more as they would consider re-selling usable jewellery and consider any gems attached.
Some jewellers are getting loads of irrate people coming in after being offered rubbish offers via the post!!
BEWARE !!!!

I've used both of the places below and they offer very good prices.

old hat....don't even know why theymake these rehashed programmes. Before you buy or sell anything you should research research research.
There are enough threads on here about the reputable and unreputable0 -
Like I'm pyschic the gold selling by post is mentioned in 1st December MSE emailer.
I didn't notice any recent threads and nothing wrong if it stops some people losing out!0 -
it is common sense to do your research before parting with any gold0

I know that, you know that and lots on ere know that BUT some people just trust/are taken in by the "we pay more than anybody else/best price guarantee" mentioned in ads and celebrity endorsements too in some ads.
I'm naturally suspicious so I was very suspicious/sceptic .0 -
Go to a jeweller FIRST and see how much they will offer you, then see if one of the gold buyers who advertise on TV can better their offer."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

today we were paying £8.20 a gram for 9 carat gold.
Still quite a bit lower than the 2 places I linked to above. They are offering £10.25 and £10.31 a gram for 9 carat gold. (Or to make it easier, 25% extra).
Once you start talking about a couple of rings or a bracelet/necklace, that 25% will add up to a fair sum of money.0 -
I did my research and checked out the local jewellers prices, I knew exactly what my item weighed and checked on the cash 4 gold website and they were offering £84.62 (which was more than anyone else)so I sent it off. They phoned me today and offered me £62 (I had been offered more than that at my local jewellers) I had checked their site this morning and it was still showing £84.62, they claim the price has gone down, rubbish!!! It is the same as it was a few days ago. I have told them to send it back. How can we win when these sites say one thing and then offer you another.0

If you had of researched just this forum you would have seen two threads out of many that would have given you the recomendatioins. Hattonmetals being one of them.
I suggest you ask them for your gold back ASAP and send onto Hatton Metals after researching them and others on here and the web0
