Yes, of course benefit can sanctioned at the mo. Did you provide evidence of your job application?

I think you can apply for hardship payments during sanctions but you have to be able to prove you'll experience hardship.
Have you checked your sent, trash and draft folders for the email application? Did you not receive an auto-reply?

Sent items, copy of the application form? You can claim a hardship payment, which is 60% of the JSA amount if you are single/ not disabled, but this is not paid for the first two weeks of the sanction.

What on earth has Christmas or the snow got to do with anything?

If you had planned to not comply with your job-seeking agreement (or play fast and loose) then you should not have taken out credit that requires regular payments. Either pay for things with cash or conform.

It was an email application. I have checked my outbox and it has been cleared. I know they can stop benefit, but I need to know if they can if it causes hardship -no cash for gas/lekky during this cold weather?

Get hold of the employer and see if they can send you a copy?

I recall watching my last employer deleting swathes of applications without even looking at them. :(

Print out the application email from your 'sent mail' folder and submit it to the decision maker.
  • Easy to say with hindsight, but remember to CC yourself into any e-mail applications you send - then you always have a copy of exactly what they receive.

You should have it in your sent box...

Did'nt receive a confirmation email or reply(not sure if the initial application got to them) I think there may be a problem with my web based email provider as I have both sent and received items go astray before

That's what I mean - when you put their address in, also add your own address. If you receive the e-mail then it's a good bet that they did too, at worst you have something to prove you sent it.

The standard for hotmail, gmail or yahoo is to keep at least 30 days of sent items - did you delete these? If not then at least you can prove you sent it.

E-mails can't really 'go a stray' like the post, if you get the address right then it will send. Even if it gets caught in their spam filters you WILL have it in your sent box.
