Speaking to HSBC by phone

I have had a very frustrating morning and I am still not assured that I have the correct answer to my problem. Wondered if anyone can help.

Is there any way that I can speak to a call centre here in Britain or, better still, direct to my branch. I tracked down a branch number by going through as if it was a new account but when I rang, I had to leave a message as the number was not available.

I might end up having to go into my branch but it is not easy for me.

Depends on the time of day you call. Late night I usually get American or someone I believe. I rarely use phone banking, I have only used it ~twice in 10 years.

To be honest if it's a complaint then deal with it by writing a snail mail letter to their complaints address putting formal complaint as the title on the letter.

If it's not a complaint then go into a branch. Save you the stress of dealing with people who want to get you off the phone.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

You speak to someone in England,

    - Without any irritating IVR
    - who is always helpful
    - will never let the phone ring more than 3 times
    - who is truly customer focussed.

You speak to someone in England,

This is a little pedantic, but nonetheless, I believe you mean Britain. First Direct has two call centres, one in Hamilton, Scotland and the other in Leeds (link).
Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

True, but I never get Scotland. Only Leeds.

Their Scottish centre had to close for a day or two with the snow.

LOL, it is not a mistake I usually make, being Scottish myself.
