    NTL?

I have a BT phoneline but didn't want to pay £10 line rental on top of whatever broadband costs when I didn't want a landline.

Only option I could see for sensible cost was NTL.

Other (probably expensive) options are satellite broadband(?), mobile data cards (basically internet over mobile phones, probably slow and expensive!).

If you can get NTL in your area, I would recommend them. Cheap, ok service and FREE installation!!!

  • Thanks m, spoke to ntl and they aren’t available at the mo and don’t plan to do any work in my area for the foreseeable future! arghhhhhhhhhh will have a looksey into mobile data cards and satellite broadband.

If you are friendly with a neighbour who has broadband and a wireless network, you could possibly share their connection and costs. (Even if they haven't got a wireless network, you could install one cheaply).

  • satellite broadband would only be one way so you would still need a dial up connection via a phone line to upload so wouldnt be viable, some companys are rolling out true Wireless broadband at around £30-50 a month this works by installing an antenna on your roof and connection to your computer/router via ethernet cable I believe speeds are upto 5mb/sec but this is in the early stages and availability is very limited across the country at the moment

you are still going to need a phoneline.. a bt line will be the cheapest option, then you may be able to use talk talk etc..
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
