Hi there, just after some info on this. Worth switching from standard tariff to Energysmart? All advice much appreciated :-)

It's worthwhile getting off standard tariff full stop. Probably the most expensive tariff there is.*SIGH*0

Energysmart is not a tariff as such, its a method of paying for your energy based on your actual consumption.
You give monthly readings and only pay for what you have used.
IMO Its good if your average consumption is fairly level over the year, if you have gas CH then you bills would be huge over the winter period.
There are a number of tarrifs that British gas have where you can use Energysmart, and you get an electricity monitoring gizmo, and some graphs of your consumption on the website.That gum you like is coming back in style.0
