As titles suggests the bulbs gone in my microwave & I have no idea how to fit a new 1 (instructions were no help).
There is a coated cardboard flap inside the machine, but it just seems to have a sensor behind it.
The case is held together by 4 screws, but 2 are "security" (looks like star with a peg in the middle) so I'm reluctant to remove it.
Anybody know how to change the bulb (& if so what bulb do I need)

Not the same model but odds on similar in the way you will need to carry out the repair i would suggest this is not a DIY Job .
but first:

This is merely an account of how I fixed mine - do this at your own risk. The oven is full of high-voltage items which include large capacitors which are not discharged when you unplug it from the mains. You can still get a life-threatening shock from the charge which is stored in these components.
Therefore do not touch ANYTHING electrical except the bulb connectors.
1. Unplug the oven and place on a suitable surface 2. Remove the cover. This is held by five screws at the back of the of the machine. Three are along the top and are philips type and the other two are on the bottom left and bottom right corners and are star-grip. The cover must slide backwards first before coming off. 3. Find the bulb holder. It is located on the right of the oven as you look at it from the front. Turn the oven so that its right side faces you. The bulb holder is an oval black part with two electrical connections coming off it. It is about 6-7 cm long and 3 cm wide. It is mid way in the oven (from top to bottom) and a little towards the front. It is held to the oven frame with two bent metal prongs 4. Remove the electrical connectors by sliding them backwards. 5. Bend back the prongs and lift out the bulb holder. 6. The bulb in a 20W 240V oven lamp with a standard oven lamp screw-on fitting. 7. Replace the bulb. 8. Put the bulb holder back in place, bend the prongs back to secure it, re-connect the electricals. 9. Replace the cover and screws.0 -

Smudger1964 glad to hear you have fixed yours and lived to tell the tale. The problem giving any advise is not everyone has the same skill level and may not be aware of the safety implications because of this i would still say that this is not a DIY Job but if you attempt it its at your own risk.
Have a good Christmas and all the best for 2011.

That sounds like mine, what a lot of "di****ng around" just to change a light bulb.
My last microwave (so long ago cant remember what make ) had a plastic flap that just clicked into place, 20 second job to change the bulb, why make it such a difficult job?
I know it was less than £40, but do they expect ppl to buy a new machine when the bulb dies?.0 -
Had to snap the pegs off the star key screws to get my drive in & it was an easy job to take the bulb holder out (bulb had fallen out & still works). I'm sure it would of cost an much to get a professional to replace it than get a new microwave, but I'm happy now.0

Thanks for that one it worked perfect for me too. I found that you didn't need to disconect the two wires to the bulb (mains disconected), just unscrew the philips screw and slide the bulb holder out.
Just to be on the safe side, wear rubber gloves.....0
