removing vw beetle spoiler?
Hi I have a 2003 silver vw beetle with spoiler on the back. I want to remove it but I am wondering will this be a difficult job and what is put in place of the spoiler bolts (I persume it is bolted)
My dad said you can get rubber stoppers and put them in but would it better to bring it to a garage to fill in? How much would a garage charge for this?

What's the point in all fairness?
unless it's an aftermarket "max power" spoiler i'd leave it in place.
It's simple to remove as usually they are held on by two bolts. I wouldn't put rubber stoppers in as it would look unsighlty.
Filling the holes would be better but then you'll need them filled and then sprayed. Most garages won't just spray the bit they've filled as it won't blend well so they will recommend the whole boot to be sprayed as to make it look even which will probably be about £150+
In my opinion your wasting money for nothing but it's your car.If Adam and Eve were created first

What will you do when you remove it and find its not painted underneath?
Refitting could still leave a visible gap or damaged paint on the join/seal.
Not worth risking.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Rubber stoppers. Reminds me of the chavs who de-wiper their Saxos.

ive not yet seen a car that has not been painted underneath a spoiler if i do i'd suspect its either been smacked in a$$ and the repairer was lazy, or the manufacturer has poorly paint ethics.
removing it may devalue the vehicle if its a special edition or part of its trim details.
2 you would have a noticeable difference in paint colour as uv would of faded everything around it and when you take it off will see the difference and will have to mop (motorized polishing machine) the whole car as t cutting will just take a small layer off and over time the patch will return. repainting it will not be cost efficiant, filling it and paintng it is just in my eyes pointless for just removing a spoiler.
leave the car as is, there isnt any point to removing it just because you dont like it, if you didnt like it then why buy it?0
