Quick car insurance question

Hi,
My boyfriend recently wrote off my car, luckily he's alright. He was a named driver on my policy. I'm now at the point of trying to arrange insurance for my next car and unsure of how to record the claim.
I'm inclined to put the claim on my name as it was my policy but then when I add him as a named driver it asks if he's had any accidents/claims. Is it asking for claims which have been made on policies he has held himself or claims made as a named driver?
I hope that makes sense. Any help/clarification would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance

If you are having him as a named driver then record the claim against him alone.0

Quentin just out of sheer curiousity , if the OP decided not to add her partner onto her new car insurance as a named driver would that mean that the accident would not have to be declared by her ? I know the partner would have to if he ever got his own insurance though. The loopy one has gone :j0

No - should the "culprit" no longer be on her policy, then she would then have to declare the claim.0 -

I'd phone up and check that. You've had a claim, he's had an accident, double whammy, unfortunate, but saying you haven't had a claim isn't true.0
