I'm a beginner -Natwest Advantage Blue HELPPP.

Hello.
I'm new here.
I currently have a current account with HSBC.
Looking for an account with more benefits.

Stumbled across the Natwest Advatnage Blue.
Can I simply do this:
w. w. w. natwest.com/apply.ashx?NC/PER-CA-CPLUS

And go right ahead, transferring all my £'s from HSBC to Natwest?
Or will I have to go instore.
Also, be honest, is there any hidden fee? Other than the £6.95 a month?
Because phone insurance, travel insurance, rail cards all for this money? Seems too good to be true.
Final Question, does the phone insurance cover iPhones? It doesn't specifiy in any of the T&c's?

Thank for ANY help. :D

    Welcome to MSE.

Yes, the insurance does cover the iPhone, if you choose to take out the mobile phone insurance rather than the breakdown cover.

All of the product info is here and you can have it as an addition on a Step or current account.
    Best Regards

  • I'd never really considered this before because I get quite a lot of the perks from my work anyway. However I didn't realise you got a free Family Railcard. As I'd buy a Family Railcard anyway it effectively brings the annual cost of the account down to £57.40 - i.e. (6.95*12)-26 which might just about be worth it if you take full advantage of the free insurance products etc... Some of the offers like 10% off Nat West car insurance aren't that great as you'd probably be able to get a better deal from a price comparison website anyway.

And yes you can apply online, you dont have to go into a branch, although doing it in branch is probably quicker. I applied for my account online, and from submitting the application, to getting my debit card/cheque book, took about 2 weeks. Natwest's online banking is very good :)

So you both have this specific account?
    How are you finding it?
And have you ever incurred ANY other charge whatsoever, other than the £6.95 a month?
Just want to be sure, as I have been with HSBC since I can remember.
  • No I just have a normal NatWest Current Account, but when I visit a branch they sometimes try to persuade me to upgrade to one of the Advantage accounts. I don't think they work out as worthwhile to me as I get some of the perks from work (e.g. free travel insurance).

Im the same as johnjohn, just have the normal current account. Advantage Blue is just an add on that you can have on either a step account or current plus account. I have thought about adding it on to my account, but I dont really need the benefits, except maybe the phone insurance, but then I could probably get that cheaper somewhere else. If you think you will be able to make the most of whats on offer, then go for it
