i never been in debt never had a credit card . so have no credit history which one will i apply for to have the best chance of getting. ps been turned dowbn by halifax and ge

It was a mistake to apply for these cards. Now you have two searches on you credit files that affect your chances of being accepted with further applications.
Start with the bank/BS you have your current account with. Or with special CCs for building/rebuilding credit history: Barclaycard Initial, Capital One Classic, Aqua, Vanquis, ... High APR doesn't matter if you pay your balance in full every month.
It would be a good idea to wait at least 3 months before applying.
After a year of running your first credit card account without flaws you can apply for some other card(s).0
