Hermes/Parcelnet on Newsnight this week ..

I am a Hermes courier and can reliably inform you that Newsnight (Dec 1, 22:30, BBC2) will be discussing exploitation of so-called 'self-employed' Hermes couriers. One of our couriers will be involved. She had her work withdrawn by Hermes because she had to be admitted to hospital!

Can't say any more than that at the minute.

If you've ever wondered why Hermes service is #@!&, then don't miss this show!

How can you be a courier from your hospital bed? Or do you mean she had further work withdrawn because of the hospital stay? ie. She was 'sacked'

You'd be surprised, your supposed to find your own cover whatever happens. The courier wasn't sacked, work withdrawn is the usual term for the self employed, I don't believe either happened.
The Newsnight programme will be shown tonight, Hermes needed time to find a happy courier:rotfl:

There's no advice to be given really, if you want protection and proper rights you need to be employed on a proper contract, self employment gives no guarantees.

They don't have to give a reason, time to job hunt. :)

If you are self-employed, then there is very little you can do.
