Hello everyone,
I would love to spend more time with my mum as she is very ill.
I work 40 hours a week and would love to be able to go and see her more often so want to work 20 hours a week instead. i own my flat and have some savings for my pension.
I am now 60 years old and i would like to know if i would be able to get working tax credit if i went down to 20 hours a week at £8.45 an hour.
Thank you for your help

Input your details on www.entitledto.co.uk and play around with figures and see what comes out0

Are you disabled? Do you have children for whom you claim child benefit for? There is something about being 50 plus add having recently come off out of work benefits - does that apply to you?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

When I looked into this before for my MIL, you had to work 30hours in order to be eligible for the 50 plus tax credits thing? Do bear in mind that your tax and ni contributions will drop if you cut your hours, and that initially you will also receive some tax rebates in your wages. Don't forget though, that it will reduce your holiday entitlements. Fine art juggling all this. Maybe worth you working out how you would stand at 30 hours? Bit of a compromise. Hope this may help. :AStill looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0

I think the 50+ element is going at the start of the new tax year and you would of needed to of been on one of the qualifying benefits for at least 6 months starting work so doesnt sound like it would apply to you anyways, if your not disabled and dont have any children then you would need to work at least 30 hours a week and have an income of around £13500 per year income (its not exactly that figure but around that amount).0
