We have a glowworm fuel saver mark ii boiler. the pilot light has gone out and won't stay on again. Once I press the control button the the igniter it lights but as soon as I take my finger of the control button it goes out again. Is it safe to sellotape the control button down as a temporary measure as its freezing and no hot water either. thanks

have tried to tape it for a bit to keep pilot light on but even when the boiler is lit the heating is still not working? any ideas what may be wrong.0

When my old boiler does that, its invariably a defective thermocouple, which normally acts as a safety cutout. I can still get them on ebay, and its quite easy to change. Cost less than a tenner. Don't know if yours is the same, but sounds like it. Once its gone, its gone, and the only cure is a new one.0

probably the thermocouple. its a failsafe device that controls the gas valve.

Hi
You're wasting your time .
The gas valve will not open until you let go the grey button.
If the pilot won't stay lit the boiler will not work.
You will need someone GSR to check the thermocouple and pilot assembly.
This is not DIY

sorry. thought if the pilot light stayed on the heating would work. The light keeps going out but I appear to have hot water although I'm not sure if its what is left over from this morning. The hot water tank which pipes are hot does that mean I'm getting hot water and just not heating?0

Hi
No pilot light = no main burner= no hot water.
Do you have an immersion heater switched on?
I see immersions switched on as well as the gas c/h to heat the water.
Customer not aware that it's on.

Available just about anywhere.
Did you happen to notice the bit about it not being DIY.?
I'm not just saying that to generate business.
