What would people expect to be the average cost for solicitors when buying a property.

Everything depends on how simple the procedure is: the more complex it is and the more problems there are to sort out the more expensive it will be.
I think as a very rough estimate it could be about £700 plus disbursements. Don't be tempted to go down the route of onlne-only conveyancers as a lot of them have a very bad reputation.
If you don't have a personal recommendation check with three different local firms and ask them for am estimate.0 -

Fees the solicitor has to pay on your behalf and then passes on to you. These are on top of HIS fees.
