Please help - my £400 HP laptop died after only 2 years

You stated that the consumer would be liable for ANY repairs, which is wrong .... if the consumer can proof that the product had an inherit fault, then the retailer should be paying for the repair.
But of course you as the retailer can choose the method (replacement / refund / repair) - & the consumer might not be entitled to a full refund ....
In this case the OP has had the product for 2 years - so I don't believe they would be entitled to a full refund & a repair may be uneconomical.

No I didn't. I stated that the consumer is liable for any charges that arise from the repair. if it's a inherit fault. then the product will be repaired free of charge, if it's due to a different reason. the consumer may be charged.I try to help as much as I can. But I'm also honest and speak my mind.

Can you not see the contradiction there?Gone ... or have I?0 -
It might be worthwhile taking a look at the Nvidia Defect Forum to see if your laptop is one of those affected.
It won't let me post a link due to my low post count but it's easy to find with google.0 -

What contradiction?
This one.No I didn't. I stated that the consumer is liable for any charges that arise from the repair. if it's a inherit fault. then the product will be repaired free of charge, if it's due to a different reason. the consumer may be charged.
You clearly state that the consumer is liable for any charges, but you then go on to state that if it's relating to an inherent fault then they won't be charged.
That is about as clear a definition for "contradiction" as will be found anywhere.0 -
As mentioned, this site provides a step by step process with template letters help advice etc...

Some encouraging results. Good luck with your claim.0 -

Read this bit carefully. Let's say the laptop was sent in and there was an inherit fault the company would repair it free of charge. Therefore no charges have arisen from the repair
But let's say the laptop was sent in and it was down to another reason, the company would then say "It's not an inherit fault, it's cost £x.xx to repair" Therefore a charge has arisen and the consumer is responsible for the charge not the company.
True I worded it badly in my first post and I apologise. Now let's all chill out

Ebuyer, will, with a bit of pushing, replace the laptop if you can prove an inherent fault! I have had to write a report for a customer of mine who purchased a HP laptop which is about 2 years old. It took a bit of work, but they did in the end replace it about 6 weeks ago!
problem was, even though I wrote a full report on the thing, they decided that originally they were just going to try and give the customer the run around. It took a phone call to the MD to get it resolved, which once he did get involved laptop was delivered within 24 hours!
best of luck with it!!0 -
Now let's all chill out

I thought that was all everyone in the UK was doing at the moment!
