If an item is sold as genuine, then that is what you should receive, irrespective of whether it is a bargain or not.

Also, of course, if it is not a bargain, why bother using an auction site? you might just as well buy in a shop.

How ridiculous, you could add that to just about anything sold on ebay, from Computer Games, Movie disks, Music disks to designer gear, Ipods and Memory cards. ALL of which a purchaser would expect are genuine products. I have no doubt such products are not listed as "fake" or "pirate copies". I dont think the law allows the sale of such items.

Anyone who buys a product from ebay that is not original nor sold as described on the bid, have a perfectly valid reason to complain a lot about it.

Couldn't agree more. Wouldn't touch Ebay with a bargepole personally but if others want to try for the bargain, succeed some of the time and get taken for a ride on other occasions then that is up to them. Given the restrictions on selling software (whether reasonable or not) it won't be all that surprising if a large number of knockdown copies of Win 7 have a dubious provenance.

Fortunately, if a customer buys a product that turns out to be fake, faulty or not as described in the ad, they can claim the money back via paypal. On top of which the seller can find him or herself stripped of their ebay membership. Making it pretty difficult for a customer to be taken for a ride. ;)

why buy 'fake' software when said seller downloaded it?!
  • eBay is a joke. 40% of the stuff on there is either fake or stolen. BUT, eBay just sit back and take the fees. Someone should think about taking eBay to court!!
