    Hi Pincher

Sorry for the late reply; only just spotted your questions.

I can confirm, our Age UK Higher User tariff does give discount for taking both gas and electricity and paying with a Monthly Direct Debit. This is currently 8 per cent before VAT.

I can also confirm, the second tier unit prices on Age UK Higher User are less than on the Age UK standard user product.

However, the Welcome Bonus is only available on the Age UK Energy Reward package for new customers.

Must admit, I don't know why there are blank boxes on the website. I've taken screen shots and passed these to our website people for investigation.

Hope this answers your questions Pincher and sorry again for the late reply.

Which explains how the OP's mother's neighbour can say it's cheaper to switch to E.On Age UK, as "new customers", and get the £100 Welcome Bonus.

All the little bits actually add up, so as a first year customer, it's not a bad thing to be on. Need to change tariff at the end of the first year, though. Provided it's within E.On, the £100 Welcome Bonus will have done its job.

My mother would be a "new customer" ???
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)
