i bought a cavalier turbo diesel for 235 quid .the lady said it needed a battery , so took a spare one i had. started 1st time but the charging light was on, took the car to my sister's house not far away (it was night time).checked on a vauxhall forum and was told it would be a faulty alternator and how too get it home with the alternator unplugged. cost 70 quid for a new alternator and put it in for mot ,it failed on 1 tyre. the car only had 85000 miles on it with all the old mots and a lot of service history .so i had a very solid,reliable car for less than 400 quid and superb on diesel , so you can get some buys off ebay.0
