Reimbursement - CAA Claim

Have received letter from Huntswood re CAA claim to say that I am being reimbursed but this is not for the full amount. There is a difference of £70.31. Can they do this? I have tried to contact them this morning for an explaination but again nobody answers the phone and you have to leave a message. Can I complain to someone?

Does £70.31 represent anything in particular, an insurance premium for example, as it seems a bizarre amount to deduct? If it is insurance, then that is not protected by the ATOL scheme, if it is just a figure plucked out of thin air, then you can complain to the Claims Manager, CAA, CAA House 45-59 Kingsway London WC2B 6TE0

Not insurance I was told to deduct this when submitting the claim in the first place. Still waiting on huntswood to phone me back since 9.30 am. It does seem an unusual amount.0

Who told you to deduct the money? If you put a claim in without the £70.31 then you will never get it back, they can't pay what you haven't claimed.0

Just had Huntswood on the phone who said that the amount deducted was for credit card charge and also on the Goldtrail invoice I wasn't charged £51.00 Airline Supplement but on the Travel Republic confirmation I was charged. Will complain to Travel Republic about this but not holding out much hope of them reimbursing this amount. I would have been better claiming the credit card company. Thanks for replies.0

At long last have received refund for Goldtrail flights woohoo !!!0

Glad to hear you have got something back. Credit card fees are not part of the holiday so they are not recoverable and you will only get back the amount charged by the failed operator. It looks as though the extra was a charge Travel Republic made themselves for the pleasure of booking through them0

Was the booking a flight only? if so, then Goldtrail do not pay agents commission on Flight Only, therefore Agents need to add a 'Booking Fee' to cover their costs of doing the booking for you. Of course some agents will tell you quite clearly and precicely that they are doing this, and why. However you will always get those that dont!I used to be a Travel Agent Used to be a travel agent for 23 Years, but now out of the industry. However I will help with what i can.0
