Keeping statements (barclays)

Just a quick question, im having some mass arguments with someone called BCW Group about an account i had with barclays and oweing £245..

Basically it was a savings account, i had about £15 in there was just forgotten about, next thing i received a letter from Barclays saying my DD had bounced and i was receiving a £30 Charge, i went in and asked if they were taking the P*** as one it was a savings account so NO DD's, and secondly the account hadnt been touched for nearly 12 months as you could see on my statements, they explained they could not levied the charge and could i pay in the extra £15 to cover it, told them i wouldnt as they cant bounce a DD on a savings account told them to close the account and stick it. Heard nothing more from them for 18 months.

Next thing i get a letter from "BCW" demanding £245 within 7 days or the usual, im going to jail, im going to have ccj's, im going to court blah blha, rang them and explained the situation and the guy at "BCW" said i understand that but do you have the statements for the account and i can write this off.

This is my problem, i cant find the statements and its from 2007ish would barclays still have these?

  • Barclays should still have statement info, ring them up and ask.

The debt collectors need to prove that the debt exists.
tell them to do that and then you might not hear from them again.

But to get the statements barclays may ask for payment but a data access request should limit the charge to £10.
