  • Billie-jo - hope your husband gets better soon.

Elf06 - wow, you got some fantastic bargains there! I went to my local Co op yesterday intending only to get some veg for the guineapig but ended up getting other things that were reduced. I can't find the receipt at the moment so haven't updated signature yet but I do remember gettinga bag of porridge oats for 12p because the bag was split!

    Welcome to all newbies.

    Hi everyone,

Just to let you all know that the January 2011 Grocery Challenge is now up and running. Thanks, as always, to MRSMCAWBER and rosieben for all the work that they put into the running of this thread. I'll unstick the December thread later but as usual please feel free to continue posting in it if your month hasn't ended yet.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and a great Moneysaving 2011! :)

  • I have given up on December as I lost some receipts, and bought some boze which I hadn't figured in, think I am probably about £300 though, so not too ugly :p

    Hi all.

My figure for December was £250 and I have come in at £220 - I really don't need anything else. I have a full store cupboard and a full freezer.

Lots of milk and enough flour to bake for a few months to come!

My priority now is to actually use it and cook it!

I have done two largeish Aldi shops and the rest has been dribs and drabs from my local Co-op and Waitrose.

I only really joined you all in December, so am looking forward to giving it my full attention in January. See you all then. :)

Venison Stroganoff very tasty, but wasted on Venison. Will try with Beef next time. Lots of extra gravy so have freezed that separately and will add meat when I reheat for an extra 2 meals (recipe was for 4, with added meat will serve 6)

Chilli cooked overnight - recipe says 4. Will serve 6. Why do these recipes always do such large portions. Padded out with cheap veg they will always go further.

NO food shopping now until 10th Jan. Will also try to be GOOD on holiday and minimise spending.

    Happy New Year all.
