Well, i was going to read and run, since i don't come on the br board anymore, but maybe i should'nt, as i do have a heart.

Congats on getting so far JMV xx

andreap1984. I should just take it step by step for now. Get tomorrow and the telephone interview out of the way first, and try not to worry too much. I know its easier said then done, but just be honest with the or,when it arises, and answer their questions as best as you can. They are just trying to make sense of the bigger picture. The or will let you know if they want a more in depth interview with you (face to face).

It can take some considerable time to discover if you will receive a bro. I believe they do have until the end of your bankruptcy, and i'm sure i read somewhere its possible to stil put into force, after your AD. I may be wrong, and i'm sure someone more knowledgable will be along with more info.

But i really would'nt worry about that, too much, right now. Good luck for tomorrow xx
Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

It is up to you, I went smart casual, but it really doesn`t matter to be honest. Good luck for tomorrow but honestly you will not need it :)

  • As far as the court goes mine went something like this.

    1) Emptied bank account via the cash point (before the hearing).

    2) Arrived at 8:20am (my local court open early for BR's so you don't get people listening in)

    3) Wait in queue, got seen at 8:30am

    4) Hand over forms in triplicate (yes you need 3 copies). Clerk goes through forms with you (no they don't ask anything about what debts are for, they just check they are filled out correctly).

    5) Read a statement that you agree by signing another form you aren't telling any porkies.

5a) nearly forgot this bit lol....... Hand over £600 in cash

    6) Get told to return in two hours, however, should the judge have any questions you need to be in the building (they'll have a restaurant/cafe, so take a paper and a couple of quid for a coffee)

    7) Return to Clerk's desk, and get a bit of paper with your BR number on it, and I was then told the OR would be in touch within 48 hours.

    8) Leave court and go on a mad spending spree (actually this bits a joke, to try and lighten the mood)

Thats it btw, there is nothing to worry about.

After this the OR will get in touch, you'll arrange a phone interview, and they'll send a list of stuff they want (12 months bank/credit card statements statements/loan agreements that sort of stuff).

Seriously don't worry about it, the most painful bit is having to sit in the cafe for a couple of hours doing nothing.

    Cheers.

Thanks for this, what will happen if I don't have bank account statements going back 12 months?

I only ever kept 3 months statements?
  • Try not to worry. I know its hard and I was terrified when I went through it in Aug, everyone on here told me not to worry about the court part but of course I did worry.
It was honestly no where near as bad as I thought it was going to be. all the court staff were professional and friendly and helped put me at ease, even the judge was nice.
The or interview was very nerve wracking too but once again the lady was professional and friendly.
She just went through my forms and asked a couple of questions and it was over in about 40 mins.
I was the same as you before hand worrying about this and that, but honestly just take a deep breath and you will get through it and wonder why you were so worried before.
Best of luck. It will soon be over.

Were you able to answer all of her questions?

I am a little worried that apart from the 2 big loans I can't actually remember what I spent on my credit cards

It would have been for personal living to be honest because at that time I could afford to make payments to my cards, but now what with the big loans it was all too much
  • I anwered everything as best I could and anything I didnt know or could not remember I said so.
Just try to take one step at a time and get the court over with first then think about the interview.
They are all human and deal with cases like you and me every day so try not to worry.
