Well that I can cover, I was just worried that i'd need to explain every single penny. No doubt I will probbaly end up in tears as i'm useless at keeping things together and explaining this to people without getting into a tongue tangeled mess

Suppose I need to realise that there are loads of people in my shoes - I just want to kiss goodbye to the last few rubbish years I have had and look forward to a fresh new start to 2011.

And you will be embarking on that fresh new start, so try and focus on that hun. As for being tearful, people understand. Its a horrible time, you are scared, nervous, worried, panicking BUT you are dealing with your debts now and resolving your situation, no one goes through BR lightly.

It will get better for you, we've all been there and survived. So look forward to your debt free future and getting control of your life back. Keep posting, we are all here for support :) x

Just had my phone interview...about an hour...

It was pretty much a chat through my SOA...why I had got into this 'mess' (my words not hers)....she wanted me to go through my list of creditors and give her some idea of when I incurred the debt and what I might have spent the money on ---I just explained that I was struggling to make the repayments and was ending up using the cards to pay for household expenses or any emergencies...she was very understanding and I'm sure it's a tale she's heard a lot...

I do think it's important to remember that they aren't 'after' you...they are looking for the 'dodgy' people who run up thousands of pounds worth of debts and then declare bankruptcy...

As to your still buying yourself things...honestly, you'd be surprised what they allow you to spend...my OR allowed me £111 for me and hubby for clothing (we've spent £30 in 2 years!!!) so you'll probably find that a lot of what you have bought would have been allowed anyway....

Also - just imagine if every OR was to spend hours and hours looking at each and every credit card/bank statement...they'd be at it for years...it's just not feasible so please, stop worrying - I don't think anyone will ask you to justify every penny spent on chocolates and toasters :)

We had to wait 2 weeks, although it does vary depending on how busy the OR's offices are.

Hopefully not too long so you can get it out the way.

Im sorry I can't answer that hun, I don't know anything about BRO's, but I would imagine they have until AD to decide that.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will answer that.
  • i went with my daughter in law when she was declared bankrupt. the judge wasnt even in a 'court'. it was a room. and he said to her, yes, you are bankrupt. collect your paperwork down stairs. OR phoned her later in the day, and that was it.
