Hey guys, Im looking for an extension plug, the type you used to be able to get that's like a cube with 3 extra sockets on it rather than the extension type leads. Does anyone know where I can find these or what theyre actually called as im having trouble finding them?
Many Thanks

When our local firemen came around last year for a free home fire safety check, they strongly advised against using these extension cubes (the one described by the OP) as they overheat regularly and start fires. They suggested using only the extension leads with the 3 or 4 in a row plugs instead.
Hope this helps! A friend of ours investigates fires and it's horrible to hear of the effects on the buildings, much less the families. Be safe!:A Thanks to all the lovely people who contribute their advice! :A0

If they are certified to BS1363 and contain a 13A fuse, such that the total load may not exceed the requirements of BS1363, then they are perfectly safe to use. The problem is that people hang 3 heavy cables from them and they then hang out of the socket, causing a poor connection and heating of the pins. Much better to use a 4 in-a-line extension, even if you cut the cord down to a more suitable length for you. That way what you plug in doesn't try to pull the adaptor plug out of the socket.0
