Help please water leaking in due to melting snow on bay window roof

Last January when we had heavy snow here the roof on my bay window in the bedrrom started leaking as the snow melted. It was a constant drip from many different places along the top of the window frame. I contacted a roofer via Rated People and he repaired the bay window roof - paid £350 to get the job done. He gave me a written 3 year guarantee. Sorted - or so I thought.

We had snow this week and last evening I heard the dripping again - water coming in from exactly the same place as last time. Constant dripping all day while the snow is thawing - it stopped overnight when the temp was freezing.

Didn't want to phone roofer on a Sunday so texted him. He hasn't got back to me yet.

Wonder if anyone could give me any advice as to how to proceed. Should I phone the roofer and ask him to come and sort the roof out - under the terms of the guarantee. Can't see him being in too much of a hurry to come out as he is based quite a distance away and travel at the moment round these parts is quite tricky. What do I do if he won't/can't come.? Get someone else more local and pay again. ? Put up with water coming in for as long as it takes for original roofer to turn up?

Sorry to sound so clueless but it was bad enough in January trying to get it sorted and now its happening all over again. I'm not very confident with tradesmen - and it probably shows.

Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.

  • Phone him tomorrow, and give him 2 days to come and sort out the problem (or provide a temporary roof cover) or advise him that you will get someone else out and expect him to pay your costs

Be polite, but firm. You don't want to get his back up, but you do want him to know that you wont be fobbed off

Don't be concerned about not receiving a reply to a text on a Sunday
