Economy 7 Problem
Options
Hi
The house that we live in already had economy 7 installed so we have just carried on with it as it is.
Today I noticed that the hot water tank, and upstairs storage heaters have been on all day. They are linked to the economy 7 so should have just turned themselves off this morning.
I'm assuming they are on as the little led light is on the switch?
We are with Npower and I tried ringing them today but they are closed. Can anyone shed some light on what is could have happened. Am already paying £130 per month on Gas and Lecy can't afford a great hike in my bill:(
Thanks

It sounds like you have a problem with your clock/timer.
There are several methods of changing the meter from normal to low rate, normally by a mechanical type clock or a radio teleswitch. Some areas also use contactor switches operated by the meter.
The chances are you have the older mechanical type, and the time set on it is wrong (can happen gradually or if theres been a long power cut in the past), or it's stopped working and is stuck on the low rate.
Check your meter reads, then check them again the next day. If they have both increased then the clock needs resetting to the correct time. If the normal read has not changed then the clock will need replacing as it is knacked.
In both cases you'll need to contact your supplier so they can sort the problem out.0
