Hello everyone . Welcome to the weekly spend challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Yellow - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.

    Evening all

It is rather snowy here. I was red last week by a fair bit:(

I am going for £60 this week as I have had some spends today which I need to tot up and I am know I am going out for dinner on Tuesday night so need to include that but hopefully it won't be too expensive.

I have updated the list from last week's thread let me know if there is anything else to add.

Congratulations to the greens (in the sea of red or should that be the red sea:cool:)

Spends today equate to £5 (once coppers go in the pot) for small presents for my nephews from hawin bazaar and a coffee.

Oh, I am so glad I found this thread again, how I have missed you :o

I need to reign in my spending, this week is busy so I have budgeted accordingly.

    Live ebay bids £10.00
    Pub with friend 1 £12.00
    Pub with friend 2 £7.00
    Bus fare £5.00
    night out £20.00
    day out with friend £10.00
    random £18.00
    slimming world £10.00

total budget for this week £92.00

eek when you put pen to paper, it makes for sobering reading :( but I have been very generous and know I should come in way under budget. good luck everyone :j
  • My budget this week is 0 please PP.... kind of cheating as I am doing some more hours tomorrow in my other job but dont know how much I will get paid. That will be going towards petrol though as I'm going home for the week and maybe stamps for christmas cards. Hopefully no unnecessary spends!!

  • Good morning everyone!

I'd like to pledge a whopping £100 this week, broken down as follows:

£75 - grocery shop (need to reign this in!)
£20 - ink for printer (didn't get it last week!)
£05 - necessary bits n bobs from the chemist.

Fingers crossed and wish me luck, as I feel I'll need it - I can feel it in my bones ... or maybe that's just the frrreeeeezing weather!

Thanks Pointy and have a good week everyone!

  • Hello everybody!

Fell off the wagon last week, or rather completely forgot to get on at all! Don't think my spends got too out of control, but not going to work it out either!

Pointy, can I pledge £25 for this week please? Don't have anything planned that should cost too much, and most thing budgeted for, so just need to stay away from the shops!

Welcome back Eric (and others), but I'm intrigued - why does friend 1 get almost twice as much budgeted for as friend 2? Pricey choice of pub? Or more likely to be there till the bell rings? ;)
