AgeUK. Fuel costs.
Just got a booklet from them.
Interesting reading who and how they help the 60+ groups.
They state that' they have successfully campaigned for the government to introduce mandatory social tariffs so people on a low income will be automatically offered the lowest prices for our fuel'.
Does anyone know anything about this, I have not read anything about it, who is responsible for overseeing that every person entitled has been contacted and made aware of the options available to them?
I will try to contact them tomorrow and get more information.

Most energy suppliers provide social tariffs I believe they have too, obviously there may be some criteria that you have to meet, age, disabled, low income are example
social tariffs are not always the cheapest, many online tariffs are on par or may be slightly cheaper0 -
Ebico were one of the first, if not the first to promote social tariffs.
And Powergen (pre EON) had an Age Concern,( part of Age UK) tariff way too expensive.Just an agent wanted their cut.0 -
Age Uk is with Eon, and would suit a low user of energy primarily, subject to standard 6% single fuel dd disc 8% dual fuel discount, there is now also an Age UK Oline tariff with a higher discount than the Standard ones I just mentioned. High User Age UK, more applies to gas usage than elec, as Poppycat ststed if have internet access Online tariffs with major providers are the cheapest way to go.0

Pretty much anything with an 'Age' branding is a cynical con. Purchase normal products from standard sources for the best deals. There are exceptions, but not many.0
