the problem is she recieves incapacity benefit and has done for a couple of years due to a lung condition, and is worried about looseing this benefit. i am working and get about 1300 per month befor tax. i have been told she will still get incapacity but will stop getting houseing and council tax benefit. others are telling us different. please can any one help us so we know were we are
cheers daveyb11

non means tested benefits wont be affected, means tested benefits like ct and hb will be affected and probably reduce to zero with your income, you can check on entitled to0

As per the previous advice, check on the Entitled to (turn2us) online benefit calculator but also do download the Budget Planner spreadsheet on the MSE free tools section. That way, you can do a 'before' and 'after' moving in analysis and identify the savings you can make by only having one lot of bills shared between you instead of separate CT, rent, energy and water bills, insurance, TV, broadband, telephone, etc, plus perhaps cheaper groceries.0

Sounds like she is getting income support on the grounds of sickness, rather than Incapacity Benefit.
or she could be getting incapacity benefit with an income support top up, in which case the income support will stop.
You need to get her to check her benefit letters for clarification as to what she actually gets.
If she was on proper contribution based IB she will continue to get it. It does not sound as though this is the case.0
