Jet2s free ski carriage

I noticed that Jet2 are offerring free ski carriage to some places if you book before the end of November. I do intend to ski but don't have my own and was wondering if I could use the 'free' ski carriage to carry items such as my winter boots, crampons and climbing harness instead, since I can't afford to pay for a hold bag?

Does anyone know if this is possible or does it 'have' to be skis? I am still taechnically taking winter sports equipment?

The code for free ski carriage is NOVSKI by the way - it is shown on the website and you enter the code at checkout.
