Hi everyone,
I have used MSE for a while now and never posted before, but as my recent car insurance saving was mainly down to the site I though it to be wrong of me not to share it for others to utilize.
I've been driving for 8 years, no points and been fully comp for 2 years. Previously I was a named driver on my parents Direct Line policy for 5 years.
I'd never claimed until 12 days before last years renewal when I was shunted on a roundabout and Direct line thought it right was to 50/50 split, annoyingly.
Anyway, last years renewal was £880 so as you can imagine I was a little apprehensive of this years. My apprehensions were confirmed when It dropped through the door at £1001. After doing every comparison site and big insurer website, the cheapest quote was via Uswitch, £890, with Admiral.
Admiral then phoned me and knocked another 23% off as long as I add my partners car at the end of her policy (30.10.11) until 12.12.11 for £32. That's a saving of over £400 on my policy!!
I'm still taken by this, as most quotes came in well over £1000 and just wanted to share with anyone that would find it useful.
My top two tips...
1) Make sure to do every compare site listed on MSE as the price in my case could differ by £100's.
2) if you get a call from any of the insurers take the time to listen to what they're offering as it paid of in my case.
I hope this has been useful for those of you shopping around, please feel free to ask me any questions if you want any further details.

How on earth can you guarantee adding your partner's car in October next year? They might not be your partner, let alone still own the car.0
-
And what if they charge over the odds for partner's car when the time comes. You may have saved, but at your partner's expense!0

As I live with my partner, I think there is avery good chance I will still be with her.
They have guaranteed the price to insure her car for remainder of my policy £32 for 2 months.0 -
Sorry, I would sooner walk on hot coals than use Admiral.0
