I have a Technika LCD TV that is 18 months old. The backlight has gone on it. Is it possible to get spares to replace this?
I've looked at all the spare parts stores etc but didn't have much luck. Its a M22/36B-GB-TCD1
Thanks

Its probably just the inverter, not the backlight.0

I think this is a tesco item, it should not have failed with in 18 months, so it is not of durable quality. Go back to Tesco and see what they say, and do not get put off if the say it is out of warranty. Stand your ground, and quote
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 as amended
When you buy goods you form a contract between the buyer and the seller which is legally binding and is covered by a law called the Sale of Goods Act 1979. If you have purchased goods, from a trader, that have become faulty or were not as described when you purchased them or are not fit for the purpose for which you bought them read our information below and know your consumer rights.
Your Rights
If you have bought goods you have a right to expect that they should be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality:- ‘As described’ means that it should correspond to any description given about the goods such as the quantity, colour, measurements etc. These descriptions may be verbal statements about the goods, statements in the brochure, on a shelf edge or even on the box.
- Goods are of ‘Satisfactory quality’ if they reach the standard a reasonable person would expect taking into account the price and any description.
- The law says that goods that are of satisfactory quality are free from minor defects, have good appearance and finish and are durable, safe and fit for all the purposes for which such goods are commonly supplied. - In addition to being fit for their every day purpose goods should be fit for any specific purpose you agreed with the seller at the time of sale [for example, if you specifically asked for a printer that was compatible with your computer]

Cheers for the replies guys.
Hammyman, what would be the "symptoms" if it was the inverter. When you tuen it on initially, the screen appears as normal, then it goes dark.
Thanks again.0 -
Another Technika bites the dust then...funny how they all seem to work fine until a couple of months out of warranty?
Going by the number of failure reports on here there can't be many that have made it beyond their second birthdays. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I also have a faulty Technika tv which I got from Tescoes outlet on Ebay, I have Emailed them [which I could only do thro my Ebay A/C] to see if I was allowed to return it to the store, one of which is directly facing me, I still await news, though I do not think any of the 2 will accept it . they will most like say return it to the maker,However I will never BUY technika ,orSky media as they are called on the net, Pity as I see Tesco have a large supply on them now in store.0
