Just a word of warning - I increased my cover to include Home Start over a weekend, but was told I wouldn't be able to use that cover until Tuesday morning as it would take 24hrs from start of business on the Monday. I was also warned that any callout in the first few days would risk being investigated to see if the fault was already present at the time of increasing my cover.

So instead I called my local garage on the Monday morning who came round, jump started the car, took it away, tested the battery, replaced the battery, and then returned the car to my house - all for the cost of the battery, no labour or callout :)

  • My brother did this before with the AA . His car wouldnt start so he joined up and waited till the next day then called them out . All was good.

His car was a total banger though and he called them out so many times that in the end the AA contacted him to say his call outs were "excessive" lol and they refused to cover him
The loopy one has gone :j
  • a little off topic but i personally don't think it's a good idea to be driving around with at least a minimum level of breakdown cover. it's not that expensive over the course of a year and will generally pay for itself with one callout, plus the peace of mind of being covered.

Just keep one of these in your boot, fully charged, they will start a car with a flat battery.

and if you're ever parked in a quiet spot and feeling particularly kinky just clip those cables onto your nipples and away you go!

why are you all looking at me like i'm some kind of sexual deviant!?
  • I'd expect to be waiting a long time. AA are saying they have had a November's worth of call outs today and are expecting even more tomorrow. Seems the majority of the UK dont treat their car properly.
