Touchpad buttons on laptop- Part of the warranty?

I have a newer laptop with a 24 months warranty. I have not experienced any problems with my laptop, except some minor issues with the buttons on the touchpad. First, I noticed that the left mouse-button often did not respond, either by a click or a double-click. However, since the right mouse-button was working just fine, I just switched to the option for left-handed people so that the function of the mouse buttons has been shuffled.
That worked for quite some time, and I mostly just single-clicked and then hit the 'Enter' button on my keyboard (to avoid double-clicking with the touchpad button.) However, next time the issue appeared again, it wasn't with the left button but with the one at the right! So then, I just switched back to right-hand mode again on Windows' options for the touchpad, which worked, but only for a while... So to make a long story short, I have switched from "left-handed touchpad" to "right-handed touchpad" forth and back as long as this issues with the buttons have appeared. It is strange, but I almost always get at least one of the buttons to work, but not both at the same time very often...
As I mentioned, I used to just single-click + hitting Enter, and it wasn't just because the mouse-button was slow, but that I didn't want to mess it up further... As I have expected that the double-clicking could be the issue triggering these problems (like the buttons have been messed up by all the clicking). However, not on a single laptop (except this one) have I experienced such issues with the touchpad.
As a fellow MoneySaver, I hope those who are reading this will understand my objections to just buying an external mouse and use that instead, as that would cost some extra money for a product that, IMHO, should work fine in itself... I have always used to just use the touchpad on laptops, and never invested in an extra mouse. And why should I do that now, when I still have some time of the warranty left?
This post is getting long, but what I'm really asking for, is whether or not it is likely that I can get my touchpad repaired based on my insurance? The laptop have not experienced any accidents, and not "user errors" as I have not used the laptop for heavy gaming, etc. and I'm the only one using it.
Thanks for reading this, I guess I just didn't want to end up back in the computer shop with a message of just using an external mouse instead (as I won't invest in). What I wish for, is for my touchpad to get repaired, so that it is properly working again.
