Nope, same rules apply to all information, insurance companies have to ask clear and unambiguous questions about anything they consider to be a material fact. If they don't ask then you don't need to tell them.
Cat C cars do need an identity check before you can re-tax it or get a new log book but Cat D needs nothing0 -
The value of a Cat C or D car is typically 20% less than a non written off car which would be reflected in any settlement you receive from an insurer0
