You can buy underlay from Screwfix - either on a roll or the concertina panels. We have it undernaeth engineered oak flooring and it is fine. Unless he can get you a discount I would get my own underlay.0

Same as would happen if the laminate the customer has sourced is no good, I suppose. But as the OP is sourcing his own laminate, he might as well source the underlay. The fitter may put a mark up on the underlay which is going to add to the cost.
I woud either get the fitter to source and fit it all, or source both components myself. If he is a good guy he might pass his trade discount on in full.0 -
