Wear and tear in sofa - tenant question

Sorry this isn't of any help whatsoever, but this thread reminded me of something. I remember someone in the pub last weekend talking about someone they knew who insisted that no one sit on her (fabric) sofa if they were wearing jeans as she had a theory that jeans make sofas wear out quicker than other kinds of trousers. It wasn't clear whether she made any be-jeaned guests remove their jeans or whether they had to sit on the floor.0

I suspect it's the metal rivets in jeans which the sofa-owner was wary of. They have been known to cause tears in fabric.0

Bet she had a lot of repeat visitors!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
