Are the spam emails in her sent box?

If they are scan for viruses, and change password and secret answer and check alternative email address.

If they are NOT then your gf haas click some link to see who blocked her or some place that has asked for her username and password to search for her friend on some site or invite them to a site, which was obviously fake. These emails are just spoofs and appear to come from her address. and there is nothing you can do about that now other than tell everyone in her address book not to be stupid to click obviously spammy links
