Hello
:j
I'd like to try some OS cooking but not really sure where to start. Money is *really* tight at the mo, so cheap and cheerful is the way forward. There's just the two of us, myself and hubby. I'm really lucky as neither of us are in any way picky and will eat anything. I'm a bit lazy, but I do have time to prepare and cook meals (I only work til 4 and at least 3 days a week I work at home). I'd be really grateful for some tips on where to start and some nice easy recipes to easy me in gently
Thanks for your help :T

Welcome to Old Style, miss-sixty!
Here is a comprehensive guide to some of the things you can find on here, so have a look at it at your leisure.
Some things you could maybe tell us so we can give you the right sort of advice:
What sort of food do you normally like?
What do you usually eat?
What kind of budget do you have?
Where can you shop? eg farmers' markets? Aldi/netto? supermarkets? Grocers?
Any dishes you are already good at?
You should get lots of help on here. Welcome again!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Thanks for the link, will check it out now
One thing I mean to say in my original post was that I follow the Slimming World diet. I am only half a pound away from target, but I intend to stick to it forever. For those that don't know, basically, you can't mix carbs and proteins (there's more to it than that, but I'll keep it simple).
We both like pretty much everything. Honestly. We tend to fall into unimaginitive food routines, so would love a change.
Budgetwise we're trying to keep our grocery shopping to less than £40 a week, which we struggle with, but would love for it to be lower. £20 would be good.
We have access to normal markets, and I think the city market has a farmer's market once a month. We have Sainsbury's, Tesco and Morrisons nearby but have to travel to Asda. Aldi is close and Lidl is also accessible. I have a Makro card, and am also looking into getting a Costco card through work.Bank loan - [STRIKE]£9949.52 [/STRIKE]/ £8705.83 * Loan from DH - [STRIKE]£600[/STRIKE]/ £350 * Overdraft - [STRIKE]£0[/STRIKE] £648.47

:hello: Welcome miss-sixty
Congrats on your weight loss to date :T :T :T
For recipes, you'll need The Indexed Recipe Collection
There's an "lose weight 8" thread over in the I Wanna Forum and that has a link to Losing Weight Recipes Collection
There is a monthly Grocery Challenge Thread too which you might find helpful too.
Best of luck ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Does your diet mean you can't eat pulses? (As they have both carbs and protein in them.) Not a big deal, but it does rule out some of the cheaper meals.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

No, pulses are fine. You just don't have lots of meat and potatoes/rice/pasta together
Thanks for the links. I *must* do some work today, but I'll be checking them out as soon as I get timeBank loan - [STRIKE]£9949.52 [/STRIKE]/ £8705.83 * Loan from DH - [STRIKE]£600[/STRIKE]/ £350 * Overdraft - [STRIKE]£0[/STRIKE] £648.47
