My DH and son have never been on a sleeper train!
My Christmas present to them is a trip from Euston on the Scotrail sleeper leaving Euston on 29th December and arriving Inverness the next morning - 30th December
They will leave Inverness on the evening of the 30th and arrive back at Euston on 31st.
Any suggestions as to what they can do with 12 hours in Inverness would be much appreciated.

12 hours in Inverness in December is a long time and whilst there is a shopping centre and a Vue cinema on the outskirts, you may find time drags.
May I suggest that they take a day trip to the Kyle of Lochalsh. The train ride is about 3 hours and passes through some stunning scenery. You would have enough time for lunch at a harbour restaurant and a ride on a glass-bottomed boat, seeing the seals in their natural habitat, before returning to Inverness for 1945, ready for the sleeper home.0
