Front Page help please

Hi

I am designing a website using front page and I am stuck.

I want to add the organisation logo and I have put it on using cut and paste. When the website is published the logo is not there - just a empty box with a x.

Obviously I need to do something else. When I save it it asks if i want to save the image as a j=peg and I say yes. Why isn't this enough?

I have managed to do it before but I can't see that I am doing anything different.

Sorry. Am not very computer literate at all

Thanks for your help
Rebecca Martin

FrontPage is a very poor website design tool. I started using it years ago and gave up because things would work one day and not the next. I use a superb free HTML editing tool called HTML-Kit (www.chami.com) and I got a book on HTML called Web Design in a Nutshell. After a long weekend of learning I was creating far better websites quicker than in FrontPage; oh and they were portable between hosts and design tools eg. Dreamweaver.

The HTML for inserting an image is <IMG src='HTTP://www.xyz.com/myimage.jpg'>

    Hope that helps!
Don't blame me, it was like that when I got here!

About the missing image: On reviewing your website, right-click on the placeholder for that image & get the Properties. This should reveal the location & name of the image file that the web browser cannot find. Copy the file of the image to that location & see if this helps.

When you saved the logo as a jpeg you will have saved it onto your hard drive. So when you view your webpage in frontpage you will see the picture as it is linked to the jpeg file on your hard drive.

You will need to upload the jpeg to your webspace and then edit the picture properties (in frontpage) to point at the online loction of your picture (wherever you put it in your webspace)

    Hope this helps :)

  • If the jpeg image is in a directory which is part of your Frontpage website structure, just make sure you upload this directory to your webspace as well. You will not have to change any propertities - the association and location will already be known to Frontpage.

If the image is held outside of your Frontpage website structure, however, move the image into a directory in the structure (just create a new folder) and remove and re-insert the image with Frontpage and upload.
