I also had issues with Swinton & I wouldn't recommend them.
They phoned me last year to offer me a policy on home insurance, I was quite busy but the lady on the phone was very insistant on telling me about their lastest deals. In the end I agreed to have the paper work sent to me to have a read through, she advised me to give her my bank details so if I decided to go for it I would just need to sign on the dotted line and post and if I decided against it I didnt need to do anything else just forget about it. She specifically said if I didnt sign there would be no policy.....
However 3 months later I noticed money missing from my bank account, When i rang to bank they said swinton had taken it out and for the 2 months prior to this the same thing had happened.
The bank recalled the charges & I started to recieve nasty letters off Swinton advising that this would be forwarded to debt collectors, i argued that I had never signed a contract and the woman advised me that it was an agreement of trust and they didnt need a signature. I refused to make the payments and it was sent to their own debt collection people, I had nothing but abusive phone calls off them and when I complained to customer services they hung up the phone on me.
I have never recieved a service as bad an would advise to stay well away from swinton, to this day I owe nearly £200 after they put charges on but I refuse to pay them for something I didnt want.0 -
Sorry but i can believe anything I read about swinton, they are a truley awful company and I've had first hand experience of their lies. They do not hesitate in lieing to you on the phone, anyone reading this with problems with swinton, dont waste any time speaking to your local branch, go straight to financial ombudsman.
You can't just go straight to the Ombudsman, you have to complain to the company first, then if they don't resolve the issue or you are not happy with the response, then you can take it to the FOS. If you go straight to the FOS they will simply tell you to take it up with the company first.0
