parking notice

Hi everyone,
On 2nd Oct 2010, I parked in a work multi storey car park (which is also used as a public car park at weekends), displaying my work permit and got a PCN stuck on the car for not parking in the bays correctly.
The bay I parked in has very faint lines showing it is 2 bays and I did park slightly over both of them. I emailed the "appeals" address and received nothing back from them. Taking your advice, I have ignored all letters but have just received a "notice of intended litigation" which is scaring me a bit.
Also to be noted is that the car park is free for me, so they have no losses to claim from me, the ticket they issued has a misspelling of the car park name and the postcode is wrong as they have missed out a digit.
They tell me that I now "owe" £243.99 and are threatening CCJs.
I'm pretty sure you'll tell me to ignore this but I'm the only bread winner in my house and support 2 kids... it's all a bit scary and worrying. BTW I can't afford to pay what they deem I "owe" them anyway.
Some reassurance, please? :S

Private or council, you didnt say.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Assuming it is a private ticket (not council or police) continue to ignore until you receive official stamped and sealed court papers. You cannot get a CCJ unless they take you to court and win, and as they can not win in court they will not take you to court.0

Hi again,
Sorry, it is a company called UKPC.
As I say, it's free for me to park there anyway, so reading your threads it seems they are harrassing me for money I don't owe them anyway?
Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?0 -
Its a fair bet its private, not many councils will run a multi storey
can you tell us the company name, anyway the same advice applies if its not a council, just ignore the coloured toilet paper you've just got, they won't take you to court.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
I agree now that you have said its a private company. Completely ignore everything they
throw at you.
And to save more hassle in the future park nicely:D;)make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Thank you - I will
Also, I will try to ignore everything and update you all as things occur.
Thanks again0 -

You can update us of course but the letters need not be a surprise to you. Private Parking debt collectors' letters can be predicted, have a look ahead now.
For picture previews of the letters you will be sent, please see the top thread 'PPC letters & scams, what to expect' here, plus read other threads too:

The debt collectors are toothless and will NOT be sending the boys round. They can't, nor can they affect your credit rating without Court (which won't happen despite what their letters suggest). Laugh as each threatogram arrives, it's one step nearer the end of the scam and you'll have cost them more money in wasted postage (so it's a win-win situation for you).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
