the Theatre Ticket Desk in Piccadilly - charged nearly 700%

I was charged nearly 7 times the price for a last minute ticket to a matinee of War Horse by the Theatre Ticket Desk in Piccadilly. They are in a booth in a building towards the Trocadero right on Piccadilly.

The tickets turned out to be restricted view, when I had been told they were centre circle, so were worth only £10 rather than the £67.50 I paid for each of them. I only found out when I got to the theatre. It was a fabulous performance, but I've had to buy more tickets to see it again properly.

With a lot of effort and argument the Theatre Ticket Desk in Piccadilly returned some of my money but would not give me back my receipt (marked up or not) nor my ticket stubs, that I'd handed to them to prove my case. So I now have no evidence to show the police, though I had already done an on-line police report, as advised by the theatre.

So many people must have been ripped off in this way. Since resolving this took several days and a lot of arguing and knowledge of English law and processes, I reckon very few people would be able to get any money back. You can't charge more than25% extra on the ticket price. This outlet seems to have no on-line presence so I can't find anywhere to write a review about them.

It was very stressful experience, and took the edge off a truly mind-blowing show. I've bought my next tickets well in advance from the box office itself (National Theatre box office for the New London Theatre performance).
